Postcard from Outer Space

It's official. I have landed in Outer Space. And Outer Space is otherwise known as the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai.
I have never been anywhere quite like it in my life. It's crazy. It really is like being on another planet. Or at least like the constuction site for one. On this planet there is alot of money and alot of crazy drivers. It is so hot that it is almost impossible to go outside. Everything boasts a matt of beige desert dust.
But that is another blog.
This blog is just to report that I have finally and sadly left the UK. This means that I have also left Fundy. Not in the left and never coming back sense, of course; but we are now apart for a good few months until we can tie up some loose ends and raise the necessary moola for him to follow me to Australia.
God it was hard to say goodbye. It was horrible saying goodbye to everyone - but blowing kisses to The Fundinator from the back window of the taxi as it pulled out for the airport was a killer. With blurred vision I watched him leaning on Red (the blue Escort) getting smaller and smaller as he waved a stoic farewell backed by the mock-Tudor facade of our cheapo airport hotel. We had decided it would be easier if he didn't come to the airport (and perhaps it was).
The good news is that *herald the trumpets*: HIS AUSSIE VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED! WooHOO!!!
So, it's just a matter of being patient.
In the meantime I am lucky enough to have some interesting travels. Like I say, at the moment I am in Outer Space Dubai, which might be just enough to keep me diverted. At least for now.
That and trying to work out this new efx2 stuff. I'll also be double posting over at australosquilla at blogspot until I can work it all out.

The biggest bit of news is that the visa has gone through. That's what really counts,because you were so concerned before.
Yeah, saying good-bye must have been heart-wrenching ... but it's just for a while, so just be patient and get things ready for Fundy's arrival--just as he did when you first went to Jolly Old.
So you trade those hedges and Bad Santa for the weird lunar-type landscape in Dubai. In my mind, it's sort of like Tatooine in Star Trek (take away the fact that there wasn't ostentatious wealth or the world's tallest building in Tatooine). Must be, well, different. Are you going up in the skyscraper? How long will you be there, anyway?

.. the post was just that.. it's good to have a special someone to wave goodbye to and miss.. it would make me smile, but I'm odd lol apparently. Sad though it is to be parted, you will be reunited.. and you can slip your hand under his leg whilst he drives you around once more.. that's one of the things about you guys that I will always remember..you have something special!

you need to post your links into your blog entry either using the source view or you need to use the add link function in the post form.
When you add a new post there is a Source button which gets you to the actual code and you could then type in the a href code but it's much easier to use the link function. If you put the cursor where you'd like the link to appear in your post then click the Insert/Edit Link button (it's situated at about the centre of the top line, a globe and a small chain icon) in there you can type the text you want to appear for the link and where you want it to go to (the url).
Is that what you were after? Let me know if not, I'll try to help if I can.

I know that there are some problems with PhotoBucket and some firewalls, so maybe that's it. All my images are hosted on my own webserver so you don't need to have all your images on the efx server at all.
Did you try the add image button on the post form too? If you used that and it still didn't work I would try using the upload facility within that dialog to store the image here on efx and try and display it that way?
Here's the image code for an image that I know works, so you can try that if you like, paste it into the source view and see if it displays in your post?

Squilla: Here's what I'm doing to get Photobucket pix on my pages:
1. Open Photobucket to the image you want to use..
2. Copy the "direct link" address by clicking on it.
3. Back to your page. Cursor where you want the photo to appear.
4. Click the "insert image" icon.
5. "Paste" the direct link address on the "Image URL" line. The others can be ignored.
6. Hit the "Insert Image" button at the bottom.
7. Voila!
It worked well enough so I could put out two of my infamous photo posts in the last few days.
